This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Fyndo ("we," "us") collects when you use the Platform, why, and what rights you have over it. It should be read alongside our Terms of Service.
Fyndo operates fyndoads.com, a classifieds marketplace serving Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France and Bulgaria. For any question about this policy or your data, contact us through the support chat on the site.
Account: your email address, phone number, a display nickname, your password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text), and your country/language preference.
Listings: whatever you include in a listing — title, description, photos, price, category-specific details, and location (country and city).
Messages: the content of chat messages you send to another user about a listing.
Support: anything you tell us through the support chat.
Verification and login security: a hash of any verification or login code we send you, your login history (timestamp, IP address, and which device/browser), and — only if you choose to set one up — an authenticator app secret and backup codes (also stored hashed, never as plain text we could read back).
Messages also carry the sender's IP address, kept for abuse investigation and not shown to the other party in the conversation.
Site visits: for every page view, we record the visitor's IP address and, where we can determine it, their country — used only in aggregate, to understand overall traffic (how many visits, from where), not to build a profile of any individual visitor's browsing on the site. Individual visit records are deleted automatically after 90 days; the aggregate daily totals aren't affected by that deletion.
Cookies: we use cookies for signing you in, remembering your country and display theme preferences, and protecting the site against cross-site request forgery. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies beyond what's disclosed in this policy.
If you sign in with Google or Facebook instead of an email/password, that provider gives us the basic profile information (name, email address) needed to create or match your account — we don't receive your password on either platform, and we don't request access to anything beyond that basic profile.
To provide the service itself — creating your account, publishing your listings, delivering messages between buyer and seller, processing payments you request, and keeping the account and login process secure.
To detect and prevent fraud and abuse of the Platform.
To understand overall site usage and improve the Platform.
Where required, to comply with a legal obligation or respond to a lawful request from an authority.
Other users: your nickname and, where you choose to show it (see our phone-number visibility setting), your phone number are visible to other logged-in users viewing your listings. Your email address is never shown to other users.
Service providers who process data on our behalf, only as needed to provide their specific service: payment processing (Stripe, PayPal), SMS delivery (Twilio, Vonage), and email delivery. These providers only receive the specific data needed for their function — a payment processor doesn't see your listings, for example — and are contractually restricted from using it for their own purposes.
We don't sell your personal data to anyone, for any reason.
A deleted listing is kept in a private, admin-only archive for at least 365 days before becoming eligible for permanent deletion (see our Terms of Service for why). A conversation you and the other participant have both hidden is kept for at least 365 days on the same basis. Login history and site-visit records are pruned automatically after a fixed retention window described in Section 3.
While your account is active, we keep your account and listing data for as long as the account exists. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal data associated with it within a reasonable time, except where we're required to keep specific records for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, request its deletion, restrict or object to certain processing, and receive a copy of it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the support chat on the site.
Some of the service providers listed in Section 6 may process data outside the country where you live, including outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data to the same standard.
Fyndo isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone below the age required to use the Platform in their country.
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do; continued use of the Platform after a change means you accept the updated policy.
